Un dia de colera arturo perez reverte pdf
In this book, Arturo Perez-Reverte transforms the obscure and individual stories recorded in books and archives into a collective account. The author's imagination is therefore reduced to the mortar that joins the narratives. By making use of the most basic liberties that a novel allows, these pages bring to life the individuals who, for over two hundred years, have either remained anonymous or lived only in brief accounts of official papers.

Vivan las caenas y todo eso. En fin… No estamos ante una novela al uso. El libro me ha dejado hecho polvo. La guerra, la sangre y la batalla son una mierda. No pudiste hacer nada. El libro y la Historia siguen sin ti.

No pudo haber un mejor escritor para crear un libro de historia disfrazado de novela. Altamente recomendado. View 2 comments. Lo que nos cuenta. A veces pocas pincho en hueso con el autor. This book is an attempt to get a modern journalist approach of the events surrounding the uprising against the French in Madrid, the 2nd of May, Its biggest handicap is that the author tries not to leave anyone behind, so all named participants, hundreds of them, get their name in full, usually when dying or killing or usually both.
A basic knowledge of the historical background, and the layout of the old Madrid streets, helps a lot because the author does not spend time presenting all tha This book is an attempt to get a modern journalist approach of the events surrounding the uprising against the French in Madrid, the 2nd of May, A basic knowledge of the historical background, and the layout of the old Madrid streets, helps a lot because the author does not spend time presenting all that.
Once again the style is more journalistic than didactic. On one hand the hope for a peaceful enlightenment and transition to modernity in Spain was killed with the uprising and the people in arms, as they would keep raising in arms for most of the XIXth century. On the other hand it stirs the national pride to see the invader and those were the French at the time beaten and thrown out.
The horror of the mob, the terrible response from the French Army, and the inaction of anyone in a position of authority in the Spanish side. It was really a people's revolt. Interesting but failed, and recommended only to those with interest in both Madrid and the Napoleonian period. View 1 comment. Me ha gustado mucho. De manera brillante, relata el levantamiento del pueblo de Madrid contra los invasores franceses. Los habitantes de Madrid son los protagonistas y por encima de ellos los capitanes Daoiz y Velarde.

He introduces to men from both sides, and tracks the unfolding of events that would put their names on streets and monuments in Madrid. Easy to read, despite its jump from character to character and scene to scene. Probably a novel that won't see translation into English due to its seemingly esoteric subject matter; the rising of the Spanish people against their Napoleonic occupiers. Yet Excellent use of historical figures to bring to life an event that would only be known to Spanish historians.
Yet as I read it, I was struck with the idea that many parallels might well have been found in the American occupation of Baghdad and other cities in Iraq. Interesting take on the events of may 2nd, , when Madrid revolted against french troops. Honest look at the different people that participated in the events, appreciating that there were good persons in both sides, and also cruel, ignorant and fanatic people on both sides.
I am curious now about the book on the same events by Perez Galdos. May 14, C. Bennis rated it it was amazing Shelves: spanish.
